The Pioneer Baby Blanket
Did anyone else fall in love with the Pioneer Woman's new kitchen collection that came to Walmart this last year? I know I sure did! What did me in were the colors. How could you not love all of those bright reds and oranges and yellows? Plus, the turquoise! You can't forget the turquoise!
My sister-in-law is due any day now with her fourth child; a little girl! Her color requests were red and turquoise and after throwing in a little white and a little ruffle, out came the design for the Pioneer Baby Blanket. On a side note, I really wanted to name it The Pioneer Baby Baby Blanket but who puts two babies in a title? How could I not name it after the Pioneer Woman with those colors and stitches?
Speaking of stitches, this blanket is worked completely with cluster stitches, with the exception of a chain here and there. You know what that means? It works up really quickly and is super thick and squishy - perfect for the cold months ahead!
If you work this pattern up, I'd love to see it! Tag me on Instagram with a @9603designco or send me an e-mail. I'd also like to let you know that this pattern has not been tested. So, if anything does not make sense or doesn't belong, please let me know! I hope you enjoy this just as much as I did!

Yarn over and insert hook into the same stitch. Pull up a loop on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all four loops on your hook. (a Double Crochet, Half Double Crochet Cluster)
Single Crochet Cluster (ScCl): Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through first loop on your hook. Insert hook into the same stitch, yarn over and pull another loop through. Yarn over and pull through all three loops on your hook.
Double Crochet Cluster (DcCl): Yarn over and insert hook into the next stitch. Yarn over and pull a loop through. Yarn over again and pull through the first two loops on your hook. Yarn over and insert hook into the same stitch. Yarn over and pull up another loop, yarn over and pull through first two loops. Yarn over and pull through all three loops on your hook.
Cluster Popcorn (ClPc): Crochet two DcCl in the same stitch. Once the second has been crocheted, remove your hook and insert it into the first DcCl. Now pull your loop through the first DcCl.
Note: The ScCl, DcCl, and ClPc are my own creations so probably won’t be found on any search engine. Please send me a message if you need help with any of these stitches.
Pattern:
Ch 122 Sts.
Note: Your beginning Ch3 and Hdc will count as your first PS.

Row 11: Your Ch4 will count as your first Dc and your Ch1. Skip the first St. 1DcCl in the second St. Ch 1 and skip the next St. *1DcCl in the next st and Ch1. Repeat from * across. 1 Dc in the last St. Ch2 and turn. (2Dcs, 29DcCls, and 30Ch1 spaces)
Row 12: Sc1 in the first St (top of the Dc). 1ScCl in each DcCl and Ch1 space across. Don’t forget to put one in the third loop of the beginning Ch4 from the row below. (60 ScCls)

Border:
Round 1: With White, Slip St with the right side facing you into the first St of the last row. Ch 1 and Sc in the same St. Work 1 ScCl into each St across and in the end of each row down the side. In each corner St, Crochet 1ScCl, Ch2, 1ScCl. Slip Stitch to the top of the first Sc to join.
Round 2: Ch2 and 1Dc in the same St. *Ch1, skip next St, 1DcCl in next St. Repeat from * around all four sides crocheting a 1DcCl, Ch2, 1DcCl in each corner. Slip St to top of first Dc to join.
Note: It might be that you will not have a Ch1 before you hit a corner. That is all right! It will not hurt the pattern or the look to have two DcCls together. What is more important is that you always have 1DcCl, Ch2, 1DcCl in each corner.
Round 3: Ch1. Sc 1 in the same St. (The Ch1 and 1Sc counts as your first ScCl) Crochet 1 ScCl into each St and into each Ch1 space around crocheting 1ScCl, Ch2, 1ScCl in each corner. Slip St to first Sc to join.
Note: You are now changing colors from White to Scarlet. For a seamless color change, Sl St with your new color and then begin round 4.
Round 4: With Scarlet, repeat Round 1 from the *.
Round 5: Ch3. Crochet 1Dc and 1DcCl in the same St. Crochet 2DcCls in each St around crocheting 4DcCl in each corner. Sl St in the top of the first Dc to join.
